This house runs completely off of the power generated by the solar panels on the roof, which is stored in the battery banks in the utility room.
No need to depend on the grid
There are only a few things that keep us tethered to live close to one another. As we start cord-cutting these tethers, the last pieces that remain are the utility grid and the internet connection. This estate untethers us from both. It uses solar power at scale and relies on Starlink for a super fast internet connection.
The house is powered by a 156 kWH battery bank, installed just barely a year ago. That means they can store enough power to produce 1000 watts of power for 156 hours.
Needless to say, power generated by the solar panels on the roof is much greener than that generated for the grid by burning coal. Turn on your lights and run your appliances without even feeling guilty!
If you happen to stay at the house when there isn't a lick of sun for a whole week, and you are cranking the AC, you may need the backup generator to kick in. This generator runs a Honda Civic engine and produces 21,000 watts of AC power, enough to power everything. The propane tank buried underground holds 1000 gallons.
